Botebakal Project's Current Direction - CNN iReport Feature + Commissions/ Products+ Missed Gigs

Not everyone of our followers know that Botebakal Project originally started as a street art enthusiast group spreading "adhesive art" on certain places throughout the city.

The transformation/transition that underwent from being an underground hobby group to a semi-mainstream co-organizer/ art commission services provider was unplanned & beyond the control of the founding members.

This blog entry to tackle the group's current direction, & definition by extension, seeks to clear the question of what "Botebakal Project" is about,
once & for all.As a self-proclaimed blog that "aims to promote exposure for both mainstream & undergroun local artistic events in the city of Golden Friendship", we are apologetic to inform some of our followers that we can't help but miss a lot of gigs due to shortage of human resources as well as time. We do not have a regular paid staff nor team to go over everything and we're forced not to prioritize local event coverage as much as we used to last year whenever there are projects with conflicting schedules.

Some of the events we weren't able to cover for the previous months are:
March

April
May:
June

We are also thankful for the opportunities that knocked during the days when we were still trying to define our identity as a hobby group. Earlier this year we were informed that members who volunteered under  our name got featured in CNN's website earlier this year.  Below is a screenshot of said feature.

ull article can be viewed here: http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-947658

We also blogged about this iReport experience last year, you can view it here-

While it can't be denied that our previous laid-back direction last 2012 as a hobby group has led to unique  experiences that we otherwise wouldn't have went through if we started as an all-business art group right off the bat, such as  being able to get to know a "street kid" named Bern & do volunteer work with the guy. We even got to take part of his "1st Birthday Celebration" sometime after the volunteer project.

It is slightly unfortunate to report that nowadays, we are forced to focus more on commission based projects to ensure the group's survival as well as legitimacy as one of the city's recognized art groups.

We've been through this same phase before, as some of you might remember from our blog entry last Novemeber-

http://botebakalproject.blogspot.com/2012/11/botebakal-project-miscellaneous.html

Answering the question what Botebakal Project is right now would point to an art services providing team of individuals that focuses on
commissions and the business/ financial side of things,  because the times are hard & we're struggling to make a profession out of our hobby and even the custom toys out of recycable items,
which used to be one of our groups flagship projects
