Botebakal Project's Tof got hospitalized on the first week of February and he had to prepare for a rap battle event in MUST Days on the 8th. Also, insane amount of commissions this month that we couldn't decline, because these commissions are what allows us to sustain out advocacy.  Thank you for understanding :(

 ( http://www.facebook.com/xusoundtable ) bands that takes place @ Punchbowl Music & Booze "every other Wednesday".  They're on their 9th. See you guys at the 10th.

January 12- Ocho Biztro Gig

Last January 12 2013,  local bands Fly by Juniper; Bloodflowers/Cremasteric ;  Her Violent Kiss; & Ironclad jammed together @ Ocho Biztro.

2012 Year Ender: Some Shots Of Davao City Street Art

We know this is late. All apologies. 2012 Year Ender.

Photos taken last December 31, 2012 while walking at noon on the streets of Davao City. We think it's only fitting to end 2012 taking shots of street art in the form of tags, slaps, & graffiti.This is Botebakal Project looking back & paying respect to its roots.

Last Day At CdeO For 2012 (Dec 21)- Amphitheater 3d VIsual Art Park Opening/ RPM Gig/ Roots Bar Rap Battle

2012 was truly Botebakal Project's year. We formed, we tested the waters, got tried, and got hung out to dry. We had our fair share of highs and lows in the organizations' 12 months of humble existence.

Being in this project made us aware of the local movements & allowed us to appreciate our city more. That being said, we'd like to take this late opportunity to thank everyone who has been part of our project throughout the year.

December 15- Botebakal Project @ Crocs Fun Day

Crocs Fun Family Day is an annual event. Last December 14, 2012 it was held @ Centrio Ayala Mall. It's a fun fair/ carnival for the entire family with live music, henna tattoos, games, & contests with prizes. Also present in that event were a magician, a mime, & a dj playing live music.

Botebakal Project participated & provided free face & body painting for the kids.

December 10- Chingkeetea Christmas Card Design Contest

Last December, Chingkeetea made it totally impossible for their customers not to feel the holiday spirit. Aside from the striking Christmas themed decoration "add-ons", a Christmas Card Design Contest was also held, open to everyone willing to not only showcase their artistic talents but share "tidings of comfort and joy" while having fun in the process. Registration was free with every purchase of one large red velvet milk tea.

Despite the original contest duration which ran from December 10 up to December 14, Ms. Chingkee decided to have it extended so more people can join. A winner was announced last January 3, and there were special prizes.The entries are still on display at Chingkeetea until the end of the month.

College Rock 7 / College Rock 8 YEAR-END SPECIAL

"College Rock" is an regularly on-going  gig composed of XU Soundtable ( http://www.facebook.com/xusoundtable ) bands that takes place @ Punchbowl Music & Booze "every other Wednesday".
In continuity to the sequence of these gigs of which some we were able to feature in our blog, is last December 12's College Rock 7.

Unfortunately, none of us from Botebakal Project were able to cover College Rock 8 which took place last December 26, 2012. If you have photos of the gig that you would like us to use , feel free to comment here or email us at  botebakalproject@gmail.com

December 7 - Remember Sendong

Last December 7, a "rock revival event" entitled REMEMBER SENDONG was held as a non-profit cause to honor the memory of  the victims of 2011's Sendong tragedy. Also included in the event's objectives is to "part awareness and education towards better stewardship of our city".

This was spearheaded by Eggmen Productions ( http://www.facebook.com/EggmenProductions ) , in cooperation with Rhythm of Party & Music (RPM), plus other local productions ,talents, & sponsors.

Ironically,  some of the bands that were originally scheduled to perform weren't able to push through due to typhoon Pablo hitting the city earlier that month & causing damage to their residences.

November 30-Pradyek Tiniil + Thumbs Up CDO! TV Launching

December 30 was a day of two successful milestones, one for Pilipinas Natin & the other for Thumbs Up CDO! TV.  

Pradyek Tiniil: "Putting our feet on their ground" is a project that aims at raising 100,000 pairs of slippers for pupils of different public schools in Cagayan de Oro. However, its primary goal is to really maintain the spirit of bayanihan that is already in the hearts of every Kagay-anon. Pradyek Tiniil is our way of telling others that we are in bayanihan even if there is no tragedy.

The Magis Complex Rooftop Mural X-Deal Commission

   If somebody told me at least 7 months ago that Rap Batikos' tryout venue, which also used to be a skate park for local skateboard enthusiasts, and a venue for practices of various dance groups, nothing short of the amphitheater in DV Soria of course- would turn into an exclusive 3d visual art park come December 2012, I would find it very hard to believe that person. But that's exactly what's happening now. 

   That being pointed out, I would like to take this opportunity to share my stand on the temporary state of art as a form of self-expression for artists, & as a form of product  of  paid-for commissions.

This is from a  perspective of a hobbyist that has been blogging about the local art movement for almost a year now, also from the perspective of someone who sought to make business in the form of a commission-based art production team & who now makes a living as a freelance graphic artist. 

NOVEMBER 28-DECEMBER 1: XU Festival Days 2012

Xavier University Festival Days is a yearly tradition that is well known among Kagay-anons. This year's "XU Days" took place from November 28 up to December 1. Botebakal Project was fortunate enough to be a part to most of the events , as well as cover awesome on-campus events by other local artistic organizations.
